In this age of fast content and fast results, there is so much information online about a variety of topics and even for Chinese Metaphysics. Qimen Dunjia is in vogue while little known San Yuan arts like Xuan Kong Liu Fa are making a come back during this Period 9. There are even livestream sessions on tik tok using a variety of fengshui methods like yijing fengshui (that places importance on external environment and their interaction in the respective LH bagua) to some that is frankly, more for fun and entertainment.
Amongst the many more popular uses of QImen Dunjia is its use for forecasting and divination. Often attributed to the legendary military advisor (Zhuge Liang) and Liu Bowen (famous Prime Minister in the Ming Dynasty) on its usage, legend has it that it was transmitted to the Yellow Emperor by a female deity (the Mysterious Goddess of the Nine Heavens). Personally, we don’t really buy its origins but like many things in nature, one doesn’t really have to know its origin for it to work.
In the picture below, this is a forecast that we done for one of our clients several years ago. It was a business decision and the boxes (we call them palaces) East, West and South lies the answer to our question. Each of the characters and numbers have a certain representation and its interaction are fluid fuelled by the basic five elements theory. The boxes themselves contain the different realms that affect us, namely, Heaven, Earth, Man, Deities and simply refers to our actions, the external circumstances/environment etc. The ancient Chinese sure have a way of making things confusing instead of simplifying it. In this instance, our client already has a certain idea in mind even before he/she approached us and the answer is very clear. The good thing about qimen chart is that it enables us to dwell deeper into the circumstances, the pros and cons as opposed to simple yes/no answer. It is wonderful for simple answers though. The only issue is, how does one ensure that it is the right chart for you but that’s a question for another day.
